chuck_pere
Noticed someone selling film for Hit cameras. I was wondering if anyone has actually used one of these and what kind of results it produced.
gene m
The photos can be interesting but the resolution is pretty bad.
alessandro_marconi1
chuck you may wish to check: http://www.submin.com http://www.subclub.org http://www.mcmullon.com/forsale/submin/index.htm they deal with subminiature photography check also my own website www.8x11.freeservers.com hit cameras are interesting enough, but due to 1/30 fixed shutter, and poor lenses(only 1 or 3 elements),they are a troublesome thing...not by far the real submini cameras like MINOX! regards al
silent1
There were a few cameras made for the Hit type 17.5 mm film (and a couple for German made paper-backed 16 mm film, otherwise similar to Hit to the point of spool interchangeability) that were actually decent -- good lenses, multi-speed shutters and settable aperture, even one model that had a built-in selenium meter. But yes, in general, the cameras were so limited it was impossible to get good photos from them, especially with a 14x14 mm frame. However, if you have one of the better Hit type cameras, the sale(s) on eBay would be an excellent source of spools and backing paper to use in respooling. The film can be slit from 35 mm and you should be able to get 3 rolls from a single 36 exposure film; the spools will last virtually forever if you process your own, but the backing paper is probably only good for a half dozen or so trips through the camera -- so stock up if you want to shoot a Hit! Nope, I don't have anything to do with them, I'm just an advocate of shooting over dusting.
