Outdoor Reflectors and Diffusers for portraits

For outdoor portrait photography, one would suggest a diffuser,

especially when harsh lighting is available? If yes, could any one

recomend any brand and size. I am planing to buy the 5 in 1 reflector

package 42 inch with stand since i will be mainly shooting alone.

Kindly can any one suggest wht reflector if i need it and what stand

shall i buy? Best solution i am after!

Having reflectors and maybe diffusers one would suggest to use fill

in flash?

Thx in advance

When using reflectors, outside, by yourself, can be a tricky situation. First you need to weigh your stands down so that they will not fall (God forbid on your subject) over. By using a reflector, you will change the contrast range and is an easy thing to see. By adding flash to the situation, you HAVE to know what your results will be. It is easier with reflectors starting out because it is a WYSIWYG kind of thing. If your kit comes with a black "reflector", this is a "subtractive" reflector and will slightly darken the side that it is on. This coupled with a diffuser and a vignetter on your camera will produce stunning results. You also have to be aware of your background. Any hot spots of sun will detract from your subject and keeping in mind that your eye will ALWAYS go to the brightest part of the picture is key!!!
