Spearhead
A weird problem cropped up recently when I use Zoombrowser to download images from a card. It tries to install a program called "QuickProjects" over and over. Eventually, after the third or fourth cancel attempt, it works fine. I'd like to figure out what happened here. bobatkins
Odd. Mine doesn't and I can't say I've ever heard of a Canon "Quick Projects" software package. If all else fails, maybe check your system for adware/spyware?
msitaraman
Jeff, You can download a Ad Aware from here if you don't have it or similar software already. The free copy is actually pretty good, and widely used.
carl smith
Might also want to check out Spybot Search & Destroy, another freeware that finds some things adaware doesn't. My zoombrowser definitely does not do this. Good luck.
Spearhead
I already run Spybot, I did download AdAware and used it. The problem persisted. Web searches turned up nothing, except that someone had QuickProjects try to install when running something other than Canon software. I finally found the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility at Microsoft and was able to remove QuickProjects (which didn't show up in the Add/Remove Programs) from the system. It must be some sort of spyware type thing that the programs don't catch. Music and Portraits Blog: Life in Portugal
phule
<< I already run Spybot, I did download AdAware and used it >> The real question is, though, have you allowed either one of these to update to the latest reference files?
carl smith
Do you have any AntiVirus? I find that McAfee Virus Scan picks up a lot of the weirder things that Adaware and Spybot (even when updated) do not. I had to deal with a problem recently and VirusScan was the only one smart enough to see it, even though the adware i was trying to kill wasn't in it's updates either.
