You'll be in my back yard so here are a few places you might want to go. As

mentioned the Fort Lauderdale beach is hot with spring breakers so head

there for some early morning sunrise stuff. You can wander up Las Olas blvd

heading west from the beach and catch some sailboats on the west side of

the intracostal bridge just a block away from the beach. Continuing west you'll

pass the finger isles on either side ,loaded with boats and million dollar

houses. About a mile from the beach on the south side of Las Olas is the

Floridian restaurant, one of the oldest around; Great breakfast btw. At the

south end of the side street (15th st.) by the Floridian is a nice little park

bordering the New River. Continuing to head west on Las Olas takes you thru

the artsy farsty and money shops and puts you right in front of River Walk a

large commercial touristy type of area with lots of bars and restaurants.

Walking thru River Walk to the river and hanging a right takes you over the

railroad tracks and down towards the Performing Arts Center. There's lots of

shots along the way. Best times are the weekends.

Another nice place to go is Tree Tops park in Davie on the northeast corner of

Orange Drive and Nob Hill Road. Take 595 west from i95 and head south on

Nob Hill. Parks on the left and free during the week. Alot of shooters go there.

Lots of nice woods and trails plus a lake. Movie crews shoot there as well.

You might also be interested in the Morikami Museum (search online). Make

sure you check the south end of Fort Lauderdale beach for the parasailers

and bright colors. There are some nice shots off the top of the 17th street

causeway bridge about two miles south of FTL Beach on A1A and across

from the port. Miami is a whole nuther thing.

If you like strip malls, massive housing developments and route 1 squallor your heading to the right place. The only relief I found when visiting this area this winter was go to the Everglades National Park, it is well worth the drive from Miami. Check out the Anhinga trail near the park entrance, fantastic birding and aligator photo opportunities.
