brett_kosmider
I hope that there's an answer for this one, or maybe someone with practical experience in this area. I am trying to determine the age of Mamiya RB lenses. It seems the serial numbers don't mean a thing on Mamiya lenses and at some point Mamiya changed the type of shutter in the 'C' lenses, making them more reliable/durable. When someone vaguely states "Be sure to get a 'newer' C lens to avoid manufacturing inconsistencies", it's kind of difficult to really evaluate a C lens and determine if it's "old" or "newer". Anyone have some tips on this? BK
ryan w. radtke
Im pretty sure that you can tell by the looks of the lens. Look at the barrel, if it looks like a cone, meaning from the front element it tappers back to the shutter which is the same diamiter as the front element, then it is an older lens. The newer lenses dont do this, they dont look funny. Hope I have described them well enough. I am going to include some pictures.
