robert_kennedy
I recently bought a used ETR body. Since I am on a budget (I work in education), I went with Bronica because for the most part you can get them cheap and there is a lot of interchangability. I got the ETR body for cheap. My plan was to get the backs and finders and lenses and build up around them. If the ETR body lasted, I'd use it as a back-up body after I got an ETRSi. The main point was that this was a cheap way to get into the Bronica system. Well, my $#!@&* cat pushed the body off a shelf and put a small dent on the frame in the back near the top of the opening. It doesn't seem to affect the backs, but now the panel behind the mirror will only retract about 85% of the way. It can be easily nudged back up to where it locks in position. It seems like this MAY have to do with the dent in the back throwing things off. I dunno. I'm taking it in today to get an estimate. Question is, should I bother getting it fixed? Ideally, I'd be able to get it fixed "cheaply" and then have a spare body when I get my ETRSi in about a year (I buy lenses first if I can). But then I wonder about this. Should I just say "Over XXXX amount and I will just buy a used ETR or ETRS body!"??? I'm in a quandry. Any advice would be useful. No matter what though I think my new body will have genuine catskin trim!!!
maury_cohen
So who's the $#!@&* photographer who left the Bronica where a cat could push it off of the shelf?I say spend the $#!@&* cost of repairing it and it's a lesson well learned.
robert_kennedy
Cosnidering the cat pushed it 6 inches WITH IT'S HEAD, I doubt there was much I could do. Although now everything goes in a safe.
frank_kimble
Should be an easy decision. Find out what a replacement body cost then get an estimate. Low $$$ wins. But if your body is/was in good condition then after a good repair/checkup it should be ready to go versus another used body which may need some work. Let us know what the estimate is. robert_kennedy
Well, it will be $175 with a CLA. It's a good body. Looks rough, but I got it cheap. And I can use another body when I get the ETRSi in a few months. Maybe someone will trade for the cat....
d._anthony_guimond
I just got a ETR body for $200. It's it great shape. These Cameras are a dime a dozen. Don't go too crazy tring to fix it. The frame may be racked and your just in for more probs. Ok there a little more then a dime a doz...
