takaaki
Hello, photo.net community, I was wondering if you can help me clarify a beginner question. I was looking into Cosina's Bessa R & realised that it takes "L Mount" lenses. Does this mean that I can use Leica lenses (Summicron 50mm/f2 etc.) that are on an M3, on Bessa R? (I am perplexed, since the Leica M3 are known as "M bayonet"...) Any information to clarify my wonders whould be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance, Tk. m_.
You cannot use M lenses on a thread mount camera body such as your Bessa R. But you can use LTM lenses on an M body with an adapter. Hope this helps.
al_kaplan1
There are also other cameras that take M mount lenses including the Bessa R2 and Bessa T, Minolta CL and Minolta CLE, and a few others. Any Leica thread mount lens, and there are dozens made by almost everyone from Angenieux to Zeiss, can be equiped with a thread to bayonet adapter to work properly on an M mount body. You can't, however, go the other way!
