brambor
I use Canon D30. I have some spots on my pictures and I don't know where they are coming from. It shows best on this underexposed image I took this morning. I am attaching the image to the post. My lens is clean so it is not coming from there. Could anyone guess what I need to clean to get rid of these round dots? Thanks, rb
marc_bergman1
Could it be that the sensor needs to be cleaned?
hans_eckelman
Your sensor definitely needs to be cleaned. Follow the instructions in the manual carefully. Nice pic BTW. =)
aalok_kacha
I had some similar spots in pictures taken with my 10D. The spots were most prominent in pictures of a bright area such as sky (where I first noticed the spots) and on a lampshade (which I used for testing at home). The spots were much darker and more sharply defined when the lens was stopped down to a small aperture such as f/ 22. I set the camera to sensor clean and looked at the sensor with a bright flashlight and I could see the dust. I used the rubber bulb from a blower brush (remove the brush part) to clean off the sensor. I held the body upside down so the dust would fall away from the body. This worked great and my shots are spot-free.
the_macman
>>>>>>> Your sensor definitely needs to be cleaned. Why the certainty? From what I've read: My lens is clean so it is not coming from there. [That's single lens]. To Rene: tell me how do you clean your lens from inside? :) First things first, change the lens (given that you own more than one). If the spots are still there, it's the CCD, but you can't know.
aalok_kacha
I didn't mention it, but I tested with 2 lenses before cleaning the sensor. It is a good idea to confirm that the problem is in the body before messing around with the sensor. I don't have a 2nd EF lens yet, so I just went to a local shop (Helix in Chicago) & they let me try another lens.
severi_salminen
Dust in lens does not show on picture. It just darkens the image tiny bit and makes it more prone to flare. Try it: put some particles on your UV filter.
oliver_s.
As Severi wrote! Lens defects and dirt <b><i>never</i></b> show in the picture but by decrease of contrast and--in extreme cases--of sharpness. The spots on your images, Rene, are definitely due to dust. Michael Reichmann has an essay on "<a href="http://www.luminous-landscape.com/essays/sensor-cleaning.shtml">digital sensor cleaning</a>" on his website.
