aaron_lam
Has anyone had this problem... sometimes my 10D just won't turn on, I try unloading the batteries, using just the battery (I normally use the battery pack) and nothing. I leave it alone and it comes on in a few minutes. Nothing life threatening but quite annoying and not good in crucial moments. Anyone have similar experiences? james_shrenk
The 10D should turn on within about 3 seconds of flipping the switch or pressing the shutter release. Barring anything obvious, you may want to get it looked at as it sounds like there's something wrong with it.
eigtball
You could have a short thats being intermittent, or your switch is not working properly. Take it to your Canon repair centre, or Call 1-800-OK-CANON. Cheers,
steve_barnett2
Aaron, it is possible when you pick the camera out if its bag to inadvertantly pull the CF card door ajar slightly. This will cause the camera to 'die', until perhaps when you handle it again and you close the door with your hand and make the camera come to life again. The door can be easy to pull open anyway, especially I find when wearing gloves, and its doesn't take much movement to switch the battery off. Also if you are using the grip make sure it is firmly screwed into the base of the camera, as over time it can become loose causing the battery conection to fail. paul_kerfoot
Aaron I had the same problem, here is what fixed it. With the camera power switch turned off, open the CF door and remove the card, then reinstall the card being careful to fully seat it. Close the door and turn on the camera. phyrpowr
I'll ditto Paul, and add that I saw a Canon tech check out a "dead" Rebel once, then he popped up the flash and cleaned thoroughly and it worked again: try that.
