k_michael
I recently did some shots of a car with my RZ and the 50mmf/4.5 lens. My goal was to fill the frame top to bottom and left to right as much as possible with the car. Parts of the vehicle came out distorted. What lens would you recommend I use? Would I have been better of using my 180mm lens for this shot?
douglas_green1
Extreme wide angle lenses distort. There is no avoiding it. I would have tried a moderate wide angle, such as a 75mm lens, certainly nothing wider than a 65mm lens, to avoid obvious distortion.
david choo
I photograph cars often and for the beauty shots, i'm on a 200mm to 300mm on my 35mm camera. So I suppose the nearest equivelant in the RZ lens would be great. =) Although you could get away with a 135mm on a 35mm camera. Anything bellow those focal lengths becomes a game of trying to make the distortion look good. Hope that helps.
k_michael
I was thinking about the long lens too shoot a car since it compresses the image and doesn't distort. I own the 180mm lens. Next time I'm using that.
david choo
The 180mm would be great. If you check my images, there are two shots of a Infinity G35 at 200mm. It'll give you an idea on what your images could look like in terms of compression. =) Hope they help.
