jean_.
Sometimes I photograph more, sometimes less. Sometimes in one of thephases when I hardly photograph at all, I get the most keepers. Andthere are the moments when everything is perfect. The light, thecomposition - and I'm ready to shoot, no running back to grab acamera, no fiddling with settings. I shoot much at night, and usuallyforget to put the settings back to normal, and when I shoot indaylight the shutter sound tells me I've screwed up. Not this time, everything is so perfect, and I even get a chance to take severalframes, and do bracket exposures. Heck, for the first time I'm reallynervous to wait for the results! And then I picked up the processedfilm. And my fabulous prize winning frames.. Fact is, that probably the frames would have been as average as theall the others on the film, since I've had these expectations manytimes, and later, when I scan through the processed film, I have ahard time to figure out what made me press the shuter. This time luckwas with me, instead of ruining my illusions of the perfect picturewith some trivial crap, I can keep on fantasizing forever about myperfect photo. After 3 years with my reangefinder, this was actuallythe first time that I forgot the lenscap.
Brian1664876441
I learned not to do this on a Hi-Matic 9 that I bought in 1969 at the age of 11. It would just not let you take the picture if the cap was on. And at that age, everyone that I took pictures of would yell "LENSCAP".

h._p.
You have my sympathy but, personally, I think that rangefinder cameras and lens caps just don't mix. I'm pleased to announce that I have one lens cap between two Leica lenses and it lives in the bottom of a drawer, which I am inclined to think is the only safe place for it. :-)
