kornelius_j._fleischer
There is new information on Zeiss Softars on the web, including samples that show and compare the effects in detail. This is the address: http://www.zeiss.de/de/photo/home_e.nsf/allBySubject/Launch+-+Zeiss-engl+JavaNavigator
bob_salomon
Wrong address. And it is too bad you didn't use portraits and landscapes which are more commonly used with the Softar then an antique doll. As the US Heliopan distributor we are always looking for practical Softar examples reflecting typical use. The proper link, at least the one taking me to the doll examples is: http://www.zeiss.de/de/photo/home_e.nsf/allBySubject/Launch+-+Zeiss-engl+NotesTemplate
david_goldfarb
Hmmm... I followed the link and saw a portrait there.
david_goldfarb
Ahhh... now I see that if I click on "Experience," I get to the images Bob mentions. I have to agree that a larger image of a head and shoulders portrait showing a sharp image, Softar I, Softar II, and Softar I+II would be a more useful illustration for me, if I were interested in acquiring a Softar (but personally, it's not really the kind of soft effect that appeals to me, so maybe I am not the ideal customer here). thomas_diekwisch
And is there ever any comparison to an Imagon? What do you think, Bob?
bob_salomon
The Imagon works differently. Find a book by Monte Zucker. He used both so you can see the differences or look at the work of Tibor Horvath or Frank Cricchio or Schmactenburg. They were/are Imagon shooters
simon_lee
Updated link:- http://www.zeiss.de/C12567A8003B58B9/Search/9E75D9B13153559CC1256A1D00562A35?OpenDocument&Highlight=softar If it should ever change again, searh "entire site" under "softar" SL
