john_fleetwood
Yes, it was a beautiful sunny spring day in New Orleans, with pretty ladies everywhere. Sorry if it was dark and nasty in your area.

dennis_couvillion
Grant: FWIW, the lighting on St. Charles Ave. can be deceptively difficult. Because of the large oak trees along the avenue it is hard to find spots with truly uniform lighting. The difference between light and shadow can be two or three stops, but for some reason it doesn't look that way when you're shooting. John is correct though; the day these pics were taken was gorgeous. In going through my negs I've got several shots where I really liked the composition, but I had to abandon them because I couldn't resolve the difference between light and shadow with dodging and burning. They just didn't look right. Anyway I believe John's pics were probabaly intended as just snapshots to get a feel for what was happening. You should come down here to take in a Mardi Gras. Great fun and photo ops. Dennis
