rick_helmke
Anyone have an opinion good or bad on the 22-55 f?4-5.6 USM zoom lens? I wouldn't mind having something in this range that doesn't say EF-S on it. Thanks. Rick H.
keith_van_hulle1
I'm pretty sure there's postings on this in the archives.
citizensmith1664875108
I had one, and it was fine. Not the greatest lens, but cheap too. Pretty much the same quality as the 18-55, just designed for normal cameras. It's biggest problems are a bit of distortion and the ends of its range, and some noticable vignetting when used wide open. I traded up first to the 20-35 and then to the 24 f/2.8 which I'm very happy with.
bellavance
Hi, I had one on a Canon APS Reflex. Not very sharp, in my opinion. Sold all of it and was much happier from then on with an Elan 7E and 28-135 lens. Pierre
yuriy_trubitsyn
Used it for 2 years (amateur) as all-around lens. No complaints. Now upgraded it (Tamron 24-135), going to sell.
rob_murray
We have 2 of them...they are small, light, fast to focus USM, and stopped down a bit they are quite good. The lens hood is needed on sunny days. Close focus down to about 1 foot is nice. I use mine mostly stopped down to F11 or F16 for dramatic landscape type shops with something in focus in the foreground on slide film. It is my favorite lens now. They can be found under $150 on Ebay. Oh yeah takes 58mm filters! If you need faster, sharper, more expensive and 77mm filters then the $350 20-35 USM is nicer. Good luck.
