skip_williams
Could someone tell me why this M4 and a three lens outfit of a 35/2, 50/2.8, and a 50/1.5 Summarit sold for over $3,700? Is that Summicron some sort of rare, desirable variant? I know it's a nice M4, but it's not THAT nice. (I do see that most of the bids were posted by one, 0-feedback user)<p> <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? c_d5
Take a look at the zero feedback of the seller, then take a look at the zero feedback of the buyer.
cameron_sawyer
Both buyer and seller look suspicious. "Manlvov" sounds like Lvov in Ukraine, a nest of bandits. I noticed that Indonesian scammers often registered in the UK and used shill bidders, with similarly strange names and zero feedback.
keith_merrill
Looks like shill bidding to me. Why would the seller bid against himself for no reason?
ralph_barker
Bidding frenzy, mixed with stupidity, perhaps? Note that it went from 1100£ to 2000£ in the space of just a few minutes toward the end, and then another bump to the final price at the end. awahlster
They also registered with ebay 6 days apart 23rd and 29th of last month. HMMMMMM VERY INTERSETING
crackers_.
Building credibility. They still have to pay fees, a cost of thievery, but notice no payment method is specified - likely one was never intended. A few more deals, lose the new status, then somebody'll get taken. roger_michel
and they will walk away from the deal without paying seller fees. in 30 days, the seller account will be suspended. just trying to create interest.
mike_elek
I think the seller created an alternate ID and pushed the price up in the hopes that someone would then bid even higher. The thing to do is to save one of these photos or write down the body serial number and see how long before it shows up in another auction from a different seller. This could be genuine or a sham. With zero feedback, buyer beware certainly is a rule to follow here.
simon_ball1
I too watched this auction with interest. The same kit (an unusual combination) was put up for auction last year. I e-mailed one of the bidders to warn them, but got no reply. Perhaps the theories detailed above have told me why.
stephen_w.
That 8-element 35 'cron will fetch >$1000 alone. I bought a kit, like this one, that included one and got a "free" M4 and DR by selling mine. BTW, I still have one.
