tim_atherton9
Well where the bejesus did that post go? here's and answer to it anyway Michael, As photo.net seems to be on one f its near continuous downtimes - a direct replay. Yes, unless you are willing to go to Europe for the diasec process, I think the Optimount system is what you will more easily find. My lab has always done mine for me - I saw their set-up when I was down there one time and I'm pretty sure they used some form of laminator (I think you can download the product brochures from Seal on Optimount?). I would say the person doing it has to be fairly skilled - the print surface needs to be 100% clean. They also need to avoid bubbles etc. I know my lab has scrapped the whole print and started again on a couple of occasions. As for mounting - I've seen that done, but not sure how they did it. I have at times just "framed" mine in some fashion. I've also used some of these wire mounts and suspended the prints for one show: http://www.spaceline-cables.com/main/main.html http://www.spaceline- cables.com/main/section/cablesup/items/panelsup/page1.jpg etc tim
tim_atherton9
and here's the original question Subject: FACE MOUNTING!!!!!!!!! I have a question concerning face mounting photography to plexiglass. I don't really care about the archival claims, etc. I just think it looks amazing and I was curious if anyone could help me figure out how to do it -- and I mean every part of it. I've read everything I could find on this website concerning diasec adhesives. So far, the easiest solutions I've been able to find concerns Optimount by SealGraphics which is a pressure sensitive double-sided optically clear adhesive. Does anyone know if would need a laminating machine in order to do it? And once I finally adhere the photography to the surface of the plexiglass how do most people back the piece in order to get it ready for a hanging? I want to achieve the floater look, i've seen this done with wood so is the bonding agent some form of silicon to make the wood adhere to the back of the photo which is mounted on the plexiglass. -mike
