jean-louis llech
Hello,
I seek since more than one month a new Compur Shutter #0.
It is quite impossible to find one to buy. Linhof, Prontor/Gauthier (Germany) don't have any more. Neither SK Grimes.
Who knows where I could find one ?
Thanks
dan_fromm2
Why does it have to be a Compur? Won't a Copal #0 do as well?
tim_atherton2
You are surely going to have a difficult time trying to find a new one, as they don't make them anymore and haven't done so for a number of years.
bruce watson
They used to show up all the time on the auction service that we dare not name. Watch there, and watch all the usual suspects in the LF used equipment market. You'll find one eventually I suspect. Since they aren't made new anymore, I think that's probably the only way you'll get your hands on one.
jean-louis llech
Dan,
I would normally have no problems to find and buy a Copal shutter, as they are always on the new market.
I consider Compur shutters as being much more accurate and better manufactured than Copal ones.
On another way, #1 and #3 Compur shutters are faster than Copal (1/500 vs 1/250, and 1/250 vs 1/125)
German products are always better than japanese ones, just much more expensive. Quality must be payed the right price. That's also why they disappear.
Greetings.
kasigi
It's a mistake to assume that german manufacturing is better than japanese manufacturing (especially since half the stuff that is considered 'german' is actually made in japan).
jean-louis llech
Please, don't worry about considerations on manufacturing quality.
I just search for a new Compur #0 shutter, because I prefer these shutters to other ones. Nothing else.
If you know where I could find one, please help me.
Greetings
