ramig
hope it iwas not discussed yet. just noticed that in a different forum. it seems to be a "future product", probably the Digital M discussed last week, after the voigrlander photos: http://www.summilux.net/m_system/futur.html http://www.summilux.net/m_system/Leica_M7d.pdf
john_collier2
This has nothing to do with Leica. Just another "expert" with photoshop...
ramig
and by the way, I don't have a clued if it is a hoax or not. (it was posted on the canon D1 dpreview forum. (it is not a www.leica.... website)
ramig
John, I figured it is possible. I thought maybe Leica need some photos after the introduction of the voigt, but seems more likely you are right.
fotografz
Here's another spec. look at a M Digital. Kind of likely given the space needed for everything. It is suppose to be a modular add on to existing M bodies.

fotografz
Side view of modular idea. Consists of a replacement for the M door and a base connector for the electronics (I guess based on the idea forwarded.

bruno_menilli
If this is what will be made and is from Belgium, would that be a problem - ,I don't think so and I'll just be glad it 's available. Also if this is it, Leica or their sub-contractors must have put in a lot of overtime since the announcement made a few days ago. andrew robertson
It's not supposed to be anything. It's a wet dream conceived in Photoshop. I wouldn't waste more than an instant looking at that thing.
jbq
Yeah, somebody is bad at photoshop.
jay_.
Lucien is from Belgium, it's a small country, I'd think he'd know who else in Belgium is so obsessed with Leica to spend what must have been hours or days Photoshopping those images. Let's ask him...
andrew n.bra hrefhttp
The summilux.net guy seems to specialise in Leica net hoaxes. I fell for his R9 Digital page a few years back and added a note to it in the FAQ. Very embarrassing. You have to wonder about the mentality of people who do this. Of course there's nothing wrong with a little wishful thinking - but to post deliberately misleading and authentic looking page(s) just to fool others? bart feliciano
I hope the real digital M Mount body skips the LCD and just uses wireless to talk to my PDA.
andrew robertson
I've seen a lot of images that attempt to mislead, but nothing has looked authentic so far. This Leica, the Canon 'EOS 3D', the Leica R9, and many others. It's pretty pathetic if you ask me.
ramig
it is interesting how all the new computer and camera technologies make photography the best way to mislead, rather than the most reliable way to inform.
andrew robertson
Rami, as evidenced by these photos and the others I mentioned, they weren't misleading at all to my eyes. They're sad delusions amateurishly created by somebody with too much time on their hands.
joshroot
post deliberately misleading and authentic looking page(s) just to fool others?
I can't imagine being fooled by his digital M7 page. It only resembles the Leica page in color and rough layout. And the URL has nothing to do with the Leica site.

andrew n.bra hrefhttp
Josh - part of the reason the R9D page threw me was because it used a page design which looked almost identical to that used by Leica at the time. Also the site vaguely implied they were showing off a rare pre-production model. BTW, just because it isn't on a Leica server doesn't mean much. Remember recently the M digital rumours posted on yahoo.com? Hell, what about the digilux review you did here on photo.net in July 2002? Is it too a hoax because it isn't hosted on Leica's server?... :?)
david_chong2
I guess most people have seen this, in my view, non-news by now, but here's the link anyway hyperlink See the top right hand corner "Leica future digital camerasL Leica M7d"
Rob F.
Never mind the Cosina--who wants to bet what this baby is going to cost? I think I want one! I don't know, maybe $4400?
joshroot
Andrew, What in the world are you talking about? A review on a camera website is pretty obviously just a review. Was I reviewing some camera that hadn't been invented yet? How does that even compare? If you would be fooled because I wrote a review of the M7d tomorrow and snuck it onto photo.net, when there wasn't ANY other information out anywhere on the web, well I don't really know what to say to you. Except that I've got a beautiful gold plated extra rare Leica II to sell you. Don't get mad at me because you got tricked in the past. While I can't remember the R9d page, the current website is a weak copy of the Leica one. And if you re-read what I said above, you'll notice the M7d page is the only one I reference. andrew n.bra hrefhttp
Simmer down Josh - I wasn't attacking you, only clarrifying why I fell for the R9D hoax when it first appeared a couple of years ago.
Rob F.
What does the rewind crank do? They managed to remove the winding lever, but there should not be a rewind crank in a camera that uses no film. And what happened to the frame selector lever? You still need that!
