patrik in sweden
I saw a (M)lenscoupler from Leica the other day at my dealer. It had the hole in the middle as I have been told the M version have. The R version does not. But why do you use these? My dealer thought these were made for the Benser cases. Please enlighten me as I initially thought these were too save height, but it didn't look like it. Thanks,
jay_.
They are to mount 2 lenses back-to-back to save space in the bag. You need to be careful which lenses you choose to pair together as some rear elements protrude too far back to fit against certain other lenses without damage. dan flanders
I think we need a thread called "FRQ"; frequently REPEATED questions. Or maybe, Deja Vu all over again!
john_boyle3
I've used one for years to couple a 90mm Tele Elmarit and 35mm Summaron. These fit in a #12 lens case from E. Leitz, New York. The 50mm Summicron will also fit in place of either the 35 or 90. The M2 in an ER case and two lenses in the #12 case make for a very convenient 35/50/90 travel kit (film goes in my jacket pocket). albert knapp md
Convenience for sure but I would be afraid of damage to the second lens as described by Jay as well as potential collateral damage that can occur as you are moving hte second lens around. I am more comfortable with one back cover per lens. Simple and safe.
john_boyle3
Albert - the ring is thick enough to preclude any damage to my 35, 50's or 90 lenses. When used with the 50 Elmar the lens is left locked in the extended position. I suppose one could have problems with some other lenses (21 Super Angulon perhaps) but I have found it to be very convenient.
stephen_w.
I just glued two generic caps together; they are deeper (and cheaper) than the Leica counterparts.
