wildpicture
Have a look at the website of Isarfot (www.isarfoto.de). They take pre orders for this camera at a price of 4599 euro. Don't think you'll have to pay in advance there.
jim_larson1
"exact price" => What does that mean? You realize they could easily charge $10,000 quid if they wanted, right? The "exact price" is purely a function of their dealer cost plus their desired markup. Personally, anything more than a 10% good faith deposit sounds a bit suspect. Sure, the shop is probably up-and-up, but it is a bad faith practice that should not be encouraged by your buisness. Of course, B&H photo in NY does the same => although I buy from there all the time, I would not "pre-order" from them.

andreas_carl
You should seriously consider buying it in New York, with the price differential and current Euro/dollar rate you will get at least a free trip to NY out of this...
john_tobias1
Canon uk have released the price....£3499.......see my earlier post re rip-off britain
basscheffers
Even if you have it shipped and pay the duty/VAT, New York prices are still a _lot_ cheaper than UK and even offsets the possibilty of having to Fedex it back to the US for in warranty repairs if Canon UK refuses. I'll never buy UK again.
jim_larson1
Dan; Posting to a link to another reputable forum like Fred Mirand's is fine. However instead of following that link, I went to this one: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=297500&is=REG The digital rebel is currently out of stock (2/2/04), and the B&H web site clearly states that they will charge your credit card when ordering. Of course, the policy may be different on different items . . but. . .
