jay_miao1
I have recently found my 28mm f2.8 AIS nikkor lens showing some fungus or oil-like spot on one of the inside rear elements (maybe second or third), it's quite noticeable as holding up the lens through direct light. I haven't taken any shots to test it yet to find out how severe it is from photo's outcome. I wonder if someone who had experience can help me out these.1) if this's really affecting the image quality A LOT at wider opens and bright scenic shots? How do I exam the result in that regard from what kind of shot more easily?2) is that too hard to fix or clean it personally in home based environment without big risk to break anything of the lens?Jay
jim_gifford
1) If your pictures show a mnarked lack of contrast... you could get the lens cleaned. 2) Big risk to break anything? Well, speaking just for myself, I would not try to disassemble and reassemble any lens unless I was first fully prepared to throw it away afterwards. Unless you have all the right tools (and I'm not sure I could even list them), you're likely to end worse off than you are today. 2a) If you are extraordinarily handy with small parts and precision adjustments, and you love a challenge, okay, give it a try. It is NOT rocket science. But it is also not "grab a hammer and a screwdriver and make it all better." Have fun...
