jack_lo_..._t_o
Taken this past Saturday. Bought this from Mark K. on this forum. Now my favourite lens. This interesting-looking fellow, bathed in window light, was guess focussed and at 2.8. I rested the OM on my table, and pointed it toward him. Critique appreciated.<div></div>
jack_lo_..._t_o
This interesting fellow was outside, I think I shot at 5.6. Both pix came from a walk through the Kensington Market district in Toronto.<div></div>
simon evans.
The 35/2.8 is probably my favourite too (and also the lens on my Stylus Epic). I like the beer and cig shot - the chap looks like he's deep in thought. At first I thought the foreground chair cut the photo in half, but perhaps, being empty, it in fact emphasises that he is alone in a place where people usually gather and socialise. robert_gries
I may be a bit old fashioned, but a good 4x5 crop helps to focus on the subject.
jack_lo_..._t_o
I like your crop, Robert, it's more dynamic. What I like about the original though is because the guy has more space around him he's smaller in the pic and looks more lonely. Can't make up my mind. (Actually, though, the fellow you can just make out on the left had been sitting with him, and they left together.)
robert_gries
John: I can see your point about the nice amount of space around the subject. What would the shot have looked like with more context? Would a 28mm have been too wide?
jack_lo_..._t_o
Just noticed your question Robert. I think you might be right (if you look above you'll see that I scored a 28mm for $10 on Eee! Bay last week). In particular I wish there was a bit more of his lower legs, etc. in the pic. Might get another chance some day; I have a feeling the guy's a regular at this place.
