chwn
I am interested to know what the difference is between the Hasselblad 350 CFE Tele-Superachromat and 350 FE Tele-Tessar besides 1 stop in aperature. The Tele-Tessar cost more even though I was always under the impression that the Superachromat had the highest quality. I will use the lens for landscape photography. Thanks for your help. christian_kloumann
I choosed the FE 350/4 a few months ago. Not only due to the full stop faster speed, which itself would have been reason enough, with brighter view and possibilty to really decrease the depth of field. But the FE 350/4 focus directly down to 1,9 meters with smooth inner focus. Compare that minimum distance with 3,75 m for the SA.Generally my heart belongs to the CFi/CFE lenses with central shutter. But there is one exeption ;-)
kornelius_j._fleischer
Wide open the FE 350/4 gives you a very selective focus. And the bokeh is probably the best of any lens I ever used (some 300 different lenses, so far). The FE 350/4 is still my most used lens on Hasselblad. A great portrait lens, especially outside the studio. On the other hand, the Tele-Superachromat is perfection and ease of use for the documentation specialist. As a Zeiss employee, I enjoy the luxury of having easy access to both of them.
james_schoster
Dear Kornelius, I recently purchased a 350 cfe tele sa lens. I noticed that the focusing ring rotates a little beyond the infinity mark. I am having trouble focusing on objects that should be in focus at infinity. I have a split spot with a ground glass surrounding ring for my focusing screen. Thank you for your help. q.g._de_bakker
Jim,

It is supposed to go beyond inifinty, to compensate for thermal effects (the lens', not in the air). So no stop: focusing is visual, all the way.
So do use that split image rangefinder, or any other focusing aid, even when focusing to infinity. james_schoster
Thank You!!! One more question. When I use a 2x Mutar with this lens I loose the center split image focus, it is just completely black or only one half is black but at no time can I get both halves to be clear to allow me to focus. Any suggestions?? Thanks again! Jim
q.g._de_bakker
That too is normal, i'm afraid.
The combination of this lens + converter is just too much for the split image rangefinder, and makes it unusable. Just like slow lenses (maximum aperture of f/5.6. or smaller) do.
The only thing left to do is use a screen without focussing aids, and a good loupe. (Or use a plain glass screen, and use the parallax focusing technique. Rather awkward, that. So perhaps not.)
