wiktor_skupinski
Does anyone know the difference between the cable release RS-60E3 (for Elan7 bodies) and the RS-80N3 for Eos1V. Other than the jack. What makes the RS-80N3 Electromagnetic? What is that? Is this some power saving scheme? Is this a property of the cable release or is this built into the 1V body? bill_goldman
All of the remote cables are nothing more than switches. They may differ in style and appearence and have different type connectors, but they are still only switches. When their buttons are pushed, the pins in the connectors make electrical contact in the camera and activate an electromagnetic switch or relay to trigger the shutter. If you are not familiar with such devices, they are typically a plunger surrounded by a coil. When the remote switch is closed, an electrical current in the coil causes the plunger to move, activating a switch or other mechanical device, which in this case activates the shutter. harman_bajwa
This guy claims to be the camera hacker and has the following pages with information on the RS-60E3. An interesting read, but don't know if the info is correct or not:
http://www.camerahacker.com/RS60-E3_pin-out/pin-out.html
and
http://www.camerahacker.com/extend_remote/index.html

- Harman
