paulrumohr
Can anyone see an advantage to purchasing both a 180mm f4 and a 250mm f/5.6 vs. getting a 180 and a 1.4 Teleconverter? Besides having to remember the 1-stop loss when manually metering... I am wondering if this might be the reason that the 250's seem so reasonably priced used. roland_haid
Arguably, the Sonnar 4/180 with 1.4XE is as good as the Sonnar 5.6/250, hence reducing the weight during travel. However, you can use the 5.6/250 with 2X-Converter in order to get a 500mm lens. It is not a good idea to try this with a 4/180+1.4 combination. Secondly, the 5.6/250 is a very robust lens, it is essentially a split triplett, all glass are well paired to resist heat. If you wish to work in hard conditions with a longer focus lens, the 5.6/250 is the way to go.
audun_sjoeseth1
How about the quality from the CF150 with the 1.4XE? I've read that the Mutar 2x is better than the 2XE with the CF150/4. Is the 1.4XE a good choice also for the CF150/4 (not only for very sharp lenses as the 100/3.5 and 180/4)?
