terry_rory
I have just about got to the end of my tether with Jessops (UK) as far as ordering film is concerned. (In other respects including D&P they are fine for me.) I have had quantities of 35mm and 120 rollfilm Kodak Portra 400 UC on order for over 2 weeks now. Still no sign of the stuff. Jessops are a huge chain and Kodak are a huge supplier and the distance this film will need to travel is about 150 miles to where I live so I would expect it in a day or two. Yesterday I gave up on Jessops and ordered from Calumet online. It all arrived 22.5 hours later (!) at 90 pence less expensive than the Jessops RRP (and thats INCLUDING the P&P I had to pay for the Calumet offering!) Any other suggestions for good reliable , cost effective online suppliers of film in the UK?
johann_fuller
www.7dayshop.com ; £2.20 and £2.75 for 120 and 35mm - they are located in the Channel Islands but deliver to mainland very quickly.
glenn_warren
Ditto 7 day shop. Cheap, fast, efficient. I've never had a problem in 3 years. Also use their sister company D Lab 7 for D&P with excellent results.

terry_rory
OK thanks. Looking at 7Day shop online now.
Guest
7dayshop, again. 35mm Provia, for example, is half what it is in Jessops. 35mm Scala, incl. processing, is £8.95. I don't think they'd take two weeks, but I'd order stuff at least a week before if you're depending on it rather than just stocking up. They also have a priority despatch option, and they'll email you sharpish if something's out of stock.
ivanskavinsky
Mathers of Bolton have always been very fast, cheap and reliable to me

roger c
Another one for 7dayshop, who are often less than half the price of Jessops or Boots, but they don't always have everything in stock. A few rolls of Reala took 5 weeks once and some Ektachrome infrared took even longer. Basically, order before you run out.
gary_imlach
Trevor, I believe even cheaper than 7dayshop are MX2, possibly because they're in the Channel Islands. This URL; http://www.mx2.co.uk/acatalog/MX2_co_uk_Camera_Food_56.html should take you to the film page.
stephen_jones4
7 day shop are great but I did have one disasterous experience with them about a year ago when they lost my (£90) order. Their customer service was so awful as to be laughable - they seem to have a total staff of about 4 none of whom is on speaking terms with any other. It nearly drove me round the bend and took about 2 months of constant emails ("oh yes, we don't respond to emails") and phone calls to come to a satisfactory conculsion. They are, though, very very cheap. I find Mathers - based in Lancashire and not web-based, to be very competitive and extremely fast to deliver - like next working day (tel: 01204 522186): Morco (www.morco.uk.com) is good for paper and more unusual/professional film (e.g. kodak EPP/EPN, Agfa RSX2 etc). With 7dayshop.com I always allowed 7 working days for delivery - to be fair they say on their website "Dispatch is normally 2-4 days, delivery is 3-5 but please allow up to 10 working days". I'm still tempted by their super low prices but can't quite face another C.S. trauma yet - maybe they're better now.... BTW, I agree that Jessops are quite good for some things (e.g. D+P on Fuji Frontiers) but their film prices are truly staggering as are their battery prices. As for Boots...! christoph_frick1
Just because MX2 was mentioned some posts above: Here in Germany, I used to use MX2 a few times and used to be happy with the service: good prices, quick delivery, fresh film. But a few months ago I tried to order some film from them via telephone, a guy took my orders as usual, but then nothing happened for about a week, so I called again, heard some excuses, but still no delivery. At some point, nobody was reachable any more under the MX2 phone number for Germany. I also noticed that their ads vanished in some of the German photo journals. I gave up and ordered somewhere else (unfortunately, more expensive...). Does anybody have any news about good film sources in Germany, about the fate of MX2, in particular a good source for TriX (which is notoriously difficult to get here)? nick_bryans3
I've used 7dayshop without any complaints, but for film I'd recommend www.mailshots.co.uk. They have a less extensive range but for film (and many batteries) the pricing is similar & delivery in my experience is much faster, often next day vs. up to a week from 7dayshop. jonathan_reynolds
Trevor,Silverprint in London do EVERYTHING you could need for silver-based photography, as well as an increasing range of digital consumables. They tell me trade has never been better, because it is contracting to them from all the other stores.http://www.silverprint.co.uk/I don't know how prices compare, but the service is brilliant. derek_stringer1
I use photoglossy.com. Another Channel Island based firm, delivery quoted 3-7 days, my experience is 3 days. They e-mail you if items are out of stock. They specialise in film and digital printing requirements. Use with confidence.
