Nikon and Fuji

Recommended Posts

Nikon and Fuji share the same lens mount, presumably with Nikon's blessing. Not the first time cameras from different makers have shared a mount - the Pentax K-mount was probably the most copied mount in history, shared by innumerable lens and body makers, surpassing even their earlier screwmount.

Fuji uses a proprietary chip, reportedly unavailable to any other camera maker. Other digicam makers may use outsourced sensors - no way of knowing for certain unless you're an industry insider.

Over the decades totally separate photo industry members have occasionally formed partnerships, sometimes official and formal, other times unofficial and informal. A local camera shop employee asserted to me that Minolta helped Nikon refine their AF technology years ago. Who knows.
