james_wallace3
I am an extreme beginner looking for a good relatively low priced digital camera. Right now I am considering either the Canon G5 or the Sony DSC-F717 and I'm leaning towards the Sony based on what I've read about image and lens quality between the two cameras. Is this a good decision? Is there another camera that I should also consider?
awahlster
Take a very good look at the Canon G3 it has better image quality then the G5 just a lower pixel count. Great B&W capture as well as being cheaper. IMHO
jespdj
Have a look at these websites, there's a lot of detailed information about those cameras in the reviews:
http://www.dpreview.com
http://www.steves-digicams.com
regards
josh_thornton
Personally, I would get the Sony of those two options...but then again I wouldn't get either...I'd say save your money for a little while and buy a digital SLR...that's what i'm saving up for, but i considered getting the f717...try them both out though. I just couldn't handle the non-instant response after hitting the shutter of a non-digital SLR...might miss that magic moment. Josh
