david_boily
I use the orientation sensor on my 10D. PS 7 recognises this and rotates the pics, however I also like to use ACDSee and it doesn't. Anyone have experience with ACDSee and the 10D? Thanks,
jim_larson1
I shoot raw. Extracted JPEGs are not rotated when viewed by external software. However, if you "process" the images from RAW to JPEGs, the images will be rotated. Not sure what happens if you shoot JPEGS
chuck_dowling
Yes, at least ACDSee 5.0. Select all the images in a directory, rotated or not. Then go to Tools, Rotate/Flip, and hit the Auto button, then OK. Under Options in the Rotate/Flip menu, select Remove/Replace original files, (or you can store the rotated files in a folder of your choosing) and make sure Force Lossless JPEG operations is selected. This will auto rotate all your rotated images correctly, no matter how they were rotated originally. Hell of a handy tool if I may say so.
digitmstr
unfortunately, on my ACDsee 5 it will NOT rotate automatically :(
chuck_dowling
Why not? Your ACDSee 5.0 is the same as mine. Perhaps your images have no EXIF data?
markbodine
I shoot in jpeg mode most of the time. When I open in photoshop I always have to manually rotate. I actually have set up an action to do this for me. Is there a setting on the 10D or PS7 that will auto rotate by recognizing the orientation sensor. Even when I select auto rotate on the 10D, the image always opens in landscape in PS7. Suggestions?
digitmstr
AH-I have found out why: if you rotate the images (saving them to a different folder and with a different name) the *original* files somehow discard the EXIF data hence, if you refer back to them and want to rotate them, the data is missing.
