michael_hintlian1
Beyond iPhoto on my PowerBook, is there a program out there that will create stand alone photo slide shows that I can burn to a CD. The goal is to create portfolios on CD that will play themselves when loaded into either mac or pc computers. I don't want to send someone a CD with pictures on it that have to be manually clicked through. What is out there? Thanks to all. MH
skipd
The answer is PicturesToExe. It turns photos (and sound with the pictures, if you wish) into a single executable that runs on most if not all PC platforms. If you set the parameters for full screen, it doesn't matter what the user's screen resolution is set for - he/she will see full screen pics. Really good software and quite inexpensive. p._neil_ralley
Another good one is xat.com. In it's basic form it is available as freeware.
lotuseaters
Michael, seeing you have iPhoto you'll probably have iMovie too. Have you tried importing the stills to iMovie (including fades and the lot)? Once you have compiled a slideshow, you can then export the data to iDVD (included in Apple's iLife package) and have the software turn your pics into vob. files that you could burn on either CD or DVD and that will play on any standard DVD-player. rgds, Tom
michael_hintlian1
Thanks for these replies...I am mac based so the .exe software is likely to not work. Tom...many thanks for the iMovie suggestion, I will try it when I have a few moments to play. I tried making a slideshow in iPhoto and then burn a cd, it would not open as a stand alone slideshow...it needs iPhoto. I'm also going to explore QuickTime to see where that may take me. Again, thanks to all. MH
stevierose
iView Media Pro 2.0 now comes with a free program that allows you to do just this which you can see at: http://www.iview-multimedia.com/products/mediapro/ profeatures2.html iView Media Pro is a far better image catalog program than iPhoto and runs well under OS X. You can download a trial version at their website.
