noddy_b
Sorry, it's me again. I posted a bit too many tonight. It's bedtime. Anyway, I am listening to the song which I really like - "Jersey Girl" by Tom Waits and (later sang by) Bruce Springsteen. Do you know this song? Do you mind posting photos that you think represent this song? When you listen to this song, which photo do you have in mind...Jersey girl... al_kaplan1
The dang problem with a global internet: it's only 3:19 PM here on the U.S. east coast, much to early to consider bed time reveries...

alex coleman
Noddy I have a live version of Springsteens Jersey Girl. It is amazing just like being there at a concert in the flesh. Happy listening !!!!!
nicholas_wybolt
Not a great snap, but it does contain a colelction of Jersey Girls -- on the Boardwalk at Seaside Heights, NJ this past weekend. I did drive through Asbury Park and Deal, but didn't see the Boss around anywhere. -Nick<div></div>
vic_.
Courtney Cox (of TV's Friends) was the original Jersey Girl, in the music video.
nicholas_wybolt
Vic, I thought Courtney Cox was in the "Dancing in the Dark" video that was filmed in St. Paul, MN. -Nick

noddy_b
I have not listened to Jersey Girl for quite sometime until a few days ago when I downloaded it from kazaa.com, along with some songs like Eyes without a face (Billy Idol). These brought back lots of memories. What does the girl in the Music video look like? I didn't even know they have music video. Cheers.
jack_lo_..._t_o
Actually it's a Sunday morning. If the girl is still in the bar, she's passed out (this actually has happened in Jersey)......
vic_.
Nick, you're right, it was Dancing in the Dark. I'm getting senile. Time to go digital.
noddy_b
Thank you for the wonderful photos. The Lyrics: I got no time for the corner boys Down in the street making all that noise Or the girls out on the avenue `Cause tonight I wanna be with you Tonight I'm gonna take that ride Across the river to the Jersey side Take my baby to the carnival And I'll take her on all the rides `Cause down the shore everything's all right You and your baby on a Saturday night You know all my dreams come true When I'm walking down the street with you Sha la la la la la la Sha la la la la la la la la Sha la la la la la la Sha la la la I'm in love with a Jersey girl You know she thrills me with all her charms When I'm wrapped up in my baby's arms My little girl gives me everything I know that some day she'll wear my ring So don't bother me man I ain't got no time I'm on my way to see that girl of mine `Cause nothing matters in this whole wide world When you're in love with a Jersey girl Sha la la la... I see you on the street and you look so tired I know that job you got leaves you so uninspired When I come by to take you out to eat You're lyin' all dressed up on the bed baby fast asleep Go in the bathroom and put your makeup on We're gonna take that little brat of yours and drop her off at your mom's I know a place where the dancing's free Now baby won't you come with me `Cause down the shore everything's all right You and your baby on a Saturday night Nothing matters in this whole wide world When you're in love with a Jersey girl
richardvanle
Tom Wait's original version of the song is infinitely better than Springsteen's cover. Period.
mike dixon
If you think Springsteen's cover of "Jersey Girl" is bad, you should (well, SHOULDN'T) hear Rod Stewart's cover of "Downtown Train." It's kinda horrifyin' . . .
douglas k.
Yeah, Courtney Cox was the girl in the "Dancing in the Dark" video. Brian DePalma ("Body Double," "The Untouchables") directed it. I was there when they filmed it in St. Paul in, um, '84 or so. DePalma's cameraman missed something important, so after Cox went back into the audience, the band kept going and Springsteen had to search the first few rows for her then haul her back onstage to dance a bit more. They played the whole thing as if she was just a girl from the audience, 'cause he used to always bring a pretty one onstage to dance, but she was of course hired for the job.
