Light leak in M6 found.

A few weeks ago I posted an image I scanned of a negative that had

dark streaks on several frames. At the time I was unsure whether or

not it was a problem with my camera or something caused by the lab

that did the development so I asked for some opinions. Based on the

fact that the streaks were in a very consistent location in the

frames almost everyone surmised that they were caused by a light leak

in the camera body. Well today I finally found it. Its coming from

a damaged section in the bottom plate. The recessed area where the

locking ring sits is cracked at the top lip for almost 180 degrees.

There are no marks around the area where it is separated or on the

locking ring itself and the camera has never been dropped so Im

assuming this is just a defect that occurred when the plate was being

stamped. So I guess Im off to the dealer today to get a

replacement. Thanks again to all who responded.

Sorry, I can?t seem to get the image to display, but if you?re interested however you can look here.

And actually David I'm using tape for the time being and if I didn't have a passport warranty I might just try something like that. Of course since I do I'm assuming the new plate will be free.
