duke_beattie
Do any of you buy film mail order? I want to start using my Rollei SL66 again but there are not local (within 30 miles) stores that carry 120 or 220 film. There used to be a drug store that had it. If I went in the guy would get the film from a cooler. How do the mail order places ship? In the middle of summer it could get pretty hot in side the truck. Thanks Duke Beattie
dan_fromm2
B&H. I just read somewhere here that they ship by UPS. Stop worrying, go for it.
garvey_p
This may sound silly, but how do you think stores get their film? Refrigerated helipcopters? ;-) IOW, they likely get it the same way we do: by truck.
david_henderson
I wouldn't mind betting that a large majority of roll-film is bought mail order, and that there are few examples of it arriving having been damaged by heat or anything else. If your local retailer did stock roll-film he wouldn't be able to compete with the better mail-order suppliers. Here in the UK some suppliers use the mail; others use courier companies. Sometimes you get it next day ( and often there's the facility to pay a higher delivery charge for guaranteed next day) , but sometimes it's en route for several days. It's just the cheapest and most hassle free way to buy unless you live next door to B&H or similar.
duke_beattie
Oh, duh.. Never even thought of that. I was just thinking about all the 'store it in a cool place' 'never in the trunk of your car' things and not how the stores get the film. Oh well.. I just called the closest (30mi) store.. No slide file just some Kodak print. No fuji, no 220, one roll of bw. Thanks all.. Duke Beattie..

jim_shanesy
I get all my black and white film (I use only Efke PL100) from JandC, and my color film (mostly Kodak Ektachrome 64T) from Calumet. Have never had the least problem with either of them.
