hendy_assan
I just inherited an old Leica screwmount camera from my father in law from Switzerland. I would be very interested to know the exact model of it. The serial number is 50183 and my reading suggest it's a Leica I model. How rare is it and what is the value of it currently. It comes with a interchangeable collapsible Leitz elmar 5 cm 1:3.5 lens.Thank you for your kind inputs. Richard Williams
According to http://www.leica-camera.com/cgi-bin/overview.pl/en/sn2p it is indeed a Leica I. You should be able to get the year from Cameraquest.

roger c
Value depends on condition, as always, but they're very saleable. Track a few auctions on eBay to see what they're going for. Does your lens mount have a "0" on it? If not, the back focus of the body and lens may have been matched at the factory, so although different lenses can be fitted, they may not focus precisely without being adjusted. There should also be a small plugged hole in the back of the body if this is the case.
Karim Ghantous
Just a reminder for everyone's benefit not to quote full serial numbers publicly. It does make it easy for others to help but it leaves you wide open to fraudulent theft claims.
