ralph_barker
For Rent - Cheap

This lovely, airy, stand-alone cottage in scenic Ballarat, CA awaits you for your next no-cares vacation. Ballarat is just over the hill from Death Valley, and just as pleasantly warm during the summer months. But, we lack the crowds of panting tourists and all the hassles of those fancy luxury hotels and lodges.

This cottage includes a nice, bright day-room that allows you to enjoy the afternoon breeze:

And, a shady, welcoming, covered porch to help keep the main room cool on warmer days:

M6 TTL, 35mm Summicron, Ilford FP4+, scanned from negs on Epson 3200, toned in Photoshop. mark-j
Ralph: Nice shots. Would you happen to have some photos of past or present tenants to show us? Cheers.
ralph_barker
Mark - Thanks. As to former residents, something tells me I'd have to, uh . . . dig them up. ;-)

Spearhead
I didn't accidentally say twice say Ralph twice. It was because I was posting two pictures. Music and Portraits Blog: Life in Portugal

ralph_barker
Jeff - I think I tried that spot (north of Alviso?), but my lawn chair kept sinking into the marsh, and I ended up swimming in an oil slick of mosquito repellent. ;-)
Spearhead
Hah, it's Drawbridge. It's about a mile north of Alviso, but you can't get there that way unless you risk the Amtrak rails, but you have to jump into the water if a train comes. The old route in was through the salt fields, but that's all closed off now. I went in twice with a parks guy, but I believe it all sunk when they did some dredging for a new industrial park in Milpitas. I don't think the buildings in the industrial park have ever been occupied. There's a lot of history around Drawbridge, too bad it wasn't in anyone's interest to preserve it. cmphoto1
Ralph, I like the tone. How did you get it? Duotone? If so, which one? chad
ralph_barker
Chad - I just use the color balance tool to add red and yellow, 10/15 here, as I recall.
Wayne Melia
A litttle more upscale, but may involve commuting: <A HREF="http://www.photo.net/photo/525362"<home sweet home (non-leica)
