Fuji s2 and zoom lens

I am looking for a good sharp zoom lens for weddings. i want one that

is sharp at f2.8 i bought the Tamron 28-105 F2.8 and it is sharp at

F4 or higher but very soft at F2.8. I have a Nikon 24-85 F2.8 and it

is great i just need something with a f2.8 at the higher zoom no more

then 200mm.

Have you considered, say...an 80-200 f/2.8?

I have looked at that is it as sharp as the 24-85 f2.8

It's quite sharp. It's not really sharp, (it's no cookie cutter), but it should be sharp enough. How sharp do you need? A lens may be too sharp which would almost be worse than not being sharp enough. Be careful...

Alright what I meant was:

There is no Nikon 24-85 f/2.8

 

There is, however, a 24-85 f/2.8-4.0D lens that I don't really know anything about, although I wouldn't way it's top-of-the-line since it doesn't generate much discussion.

 

The 80-200 f/2.8D (non-AF-S) is hailed to be one of the optically best lenses in Nikon history, and I agree (it's so sharp you can cut your hand just holding it), although it is not AF-S, nor is it IF.

 

(AF-S is a biggie for me, IF being a corequisite)

You are right the lens i have is a 24-85 F2.8/4 sorry may bad. the thing that has got me so worried about sharpness is the Tamron lens i bought 24-105 f2.8 is very soft at 2.8 and is fine at 4.0 and higher. i dont have that problem with the nikon 24-85
