andrew_grant2
Copy of post from other forum... I bought that identical package (albeit duty free) in 1998 for around $550 Australian dollars - I'll leave it to you to do the conversion to whatever currency you're dealing in and decide if a $300 second-hand purchase is good value or not... if you're talking $US or Euros, then I would say definately not. At the time that was a good deal, but the camera was new and the model had just been released. I was very happy with the Pentax as a first-SLR to learn on, and I love Sigma lenses... so far as third party lenses go, they rock. Just check the lenses for scratches etc. The main thing you want to look for with the MZ-50, is that the lens mount on the body is only plastic, not metal. Check that carefully for wear as the camera is probably 5 years old or so. Mine is 6 years old now and does the job fine, but signs of usage are definately there. You might be able to find subsequent releases of the same-level model for around the same price 2nd hand and these had the metal mount. Check inside as well.
