stric
Hello, Can someone please suggest a nice and affordable flash unit that works with Bessa R2 camera? I am looking for something SMALL AND LIGHT (NOT TOO HEAVY). It doesn't have to be very, very high-tech. Just a simple flash. Please let me know if you have had any experience with certain kinds of flashes on your Bessa R(2)cameras. Thanks.
klix
I use a Nikon SB-23 with my R2; the Nikon SB-30 would be a good candidate as well.
al_kaplan1
I use the Vivitar 2500 on my Bessa and Leica cameras. It looks like a miniature Vivitar 285 but uses 2 AA batteries instead of 4 and has less auto ranges (2 instead of 4) and of course less power. Works with hot shoe or synch cord, has a multi position bounce head, telescoping head for wide angle, normal, or short tele (It'll cover an 85mm in this position. It aso comes with a clip on flip up ultra wide lens for 28mm. They show up on eBay all the time and go in the $25 range, plus or minus. I own 2 and bought one for my son also. mike_elek
I've used a Vivitar 2800. Takes 4 AA batteries. Has a bounce head and two auto modes plus manual. It also has an auto-off feature, so you don't run down your batteries. It's a thryistor (sp?) flash, so recycle times are usually speedy. Overall, fast, lightweight and not too expensive -- about $40.
