rendy_setiadjie
Dear all, I'm considering to buy 2nd flash for my EOS 3 & Powershot G3. Today I have 550EX for both bodies. Does anyone has experience with Sigma Flash EF-500 DG ? What about compatibility with current EOS film & digital bodies ? Also, will the Wireless E-TTL work with my 550EX as a master flash ? thanks ! rendy
minh_thai
I assume you're talking about the full featured version of the ef-500. I have the Super DG. It works great on film bodies (obviously). I tried it on a G2 and it seems to fire at full power in M mode and ETTL on other modes, but not too reliably. I think there is a bug/compatibility issue with respect to the auto-iso feature of the G2. I don't own a Canon flashgun so I don't know how they perform in comparison. Hope this help. m
vsevolod_krishchenko
Of course, Sigma 500 DG super works well with current digital EOS (I've tried it with my D30), but I hear about problems with PS G2/G3. It will work with 550 via E-TTL but Sigma's controls are different from my 550EX (I cannot say it really worse but different).
