noddy_b
I like black because it make the camera looks smaller and more like a snap-shot camera so I can take more photos in department stores and other silly places where they normally don't like me to take photos. (this is nothing about copy-right issue. Store owners thought I might work for competitors and want to steal their ideas or whatever)...
michael_kastner
Big repeat here: I find it much easier to read the white or yellow numberings on black than the colors on silver, although this applies much more to a lens than a body (IMO). Small addition here: black has that one advantage that a black lens on a black body looks better than a silver lens on a black body; a silver lens looks okay only on a silver body (IMO). And -- at least today -- all current lenses are available in black but not all in silver. Still, if you do have one body (yes, an M-camera) and it's black, your next one might want to be silver. Alex_Es
I like both. I try to walk around with a black and silver M6 these days. Then I knows who's who. I also use different colored straps for the same reason. I wish Leica would come out with other traditional M colors: Blue, Gray and Olive. It does not matter what color your camera is and how big it is. The minute it goes to your eye people notice you. My favorite Leica is Tom Abrahamsson's Purple Haze M4 with matching purple Rapidwinder. See Cameraquest. I might have a Leica done in Candy Apple Red as a George Barris commemorative. daniel_fusion
>>I dislike the glare of bright sunlight from chrome surfaces, so my preference for a black finish is personally a practical consideration based on using cameras outdoors... Like Art Waldschmidt wrote on June 20, 2003, I prefer the black finish too. But not all Leica products have been available in black, f.e. Super-Angulon 4,0 - 21, Summicron 2,0 - 50 and Elmar 4,0 - 90 both with collapsible mount. And try to get a black M3 or M4 - much too expensive! So I have to mix chrome M3 and black-chrome M6 with lenses in chrome and black. As I like outdoor and nature photographing, I would like to get a green M6TTL ( http://www.hksupplies.com/product/bigphoto.cfm?refno=Leica%20M6%20TTL%200%2E85%20SAFARI%20Green%20Paint%20 ), but it is only for collectors and there are no green lenses available. What about camouflage?
