hudsonphotos
My MB D100 grip is eating up my AA rechargeables like crazy. I'm getting about 50-70 shots with monitor OFF before I have to change out all six AAs. When shooting a wedding this isn't going to be practical. I know the grip wll take two EM batteries but it seems like I would need at least four of them to get through a eight hour shooting day at weddings. Is this my best bet? To stock up on the larger EM batteries? Thanks, Jason Hudson www.hudsonphotos.com
tshadley
Jason- I have been using my D100 with the MB-D100 and I purchased 2 EM batteries about 1 year ago. In my experience, I can shoot a wedding/entire weekend and have more than plenty battery left. (most times the battery meter will not drop at all, or just one bar) I consider myself to shoot pretty often, and I can get away with recharging my batteries about once every sixty days. If there is anything that I can help with, please let me know. -Tim
todd peach seattle, washi
I did 750 photos on one EM battery in a day, including cross-loading to a PC for backup (using the camera as the 'reader'). I didn't kill the battery. I would think that two EM batteries should run you through a wedding just fine if you aren't excessively chimping. Perhaps a third battery if you want to be truly paranoid. (You do realize you only need one EM battery at a time in the grip, right? The second is in effect your 'hot spare'.)
nicholas_yu
Check the type of charger you are using, I know with my F5/F80 the run of the mill charger killed my batteries. I have since upgraded to a MAHA 401 and its running all smoothe. Just something to think about.
ramon_dantes
you cann't use rechargeable AA's...according to nikon the extra holder is ment for alkaline type AA's... http://www.digitaldingus.com/d100lounge/mbd1003.html imo..it's not an issue of capacity(MHA) but a difference of output voltage...NIMH is about 0.25v less then alkaline...6X0.25=1.25V less!you aproach the min voltage much quicker then alkaline... gr
