preston_merchant
For those of you with broadband connections, I have posted a photo essay of the Miss India Georgia Pageant, which I shot in Atlanta a few weeks ago. The PDF file is 8 megabytes, though I made every effort to reduce the size of the thing. I can't figure out how to make it smaller (if you have some suggestions, please let me know). http://www.speakeasy.net/~merchant/MissIndiaGeorgia.pdf Several states sponsor Miss India pageants for the immigrant community in the US. The winners compete for Miss India USA, who will then compete for Miss India Worldwide. The Georgia pageant was for Miss Teen India (ages 13-16 or so) and Miss India Georgia (ages 17-25, though most everyone here was under 21). Cheers, Preston
michael_bender
If's not a good idea to save files in a proprietary format just because you can. Besides being proprietary, it does not provide the smallest size as well.
I did not find photography interesting, even just as reportage, I am sorry to say
h._p.
I'm afraid the link doesn't work for me - it should open Acrobat but all I get is a blank web page.
bobtodrick
It's getting there...but not quite. Only the second image (IMO) really stands out on its own (this should be the one with quite a bit of blur). The rest sort of look like well exposed 'snaps'. To really work (again, only in my opinion) as reportage you would have been better to follow one of the young women through the entire event, which would have better given the viewer a sense of the feelings and frustrations these girls go through. wind.dk
Don't use PDF - you've got maybe one or one and a half megabytes worth of jpegs in high quality for the web there. Accessing them through html pages (of virtually no size) will ensure greater compatibility and easier access for the viewers.
bobtodrick
I'd been wondering where Phill was...my God, I actually found myself missing him somewhat.

bob_lazzarini
For those of you who aren't able to either receive the PDF file, or see it in your browser, you'll need to install the latest version of Adobe's PDF Reader.
It's Free, by the way, and, I believe, installs a reader plug-in in your browser.
Here's where to go...
Adobe PDF Site
ray .
Nice work Preston. Subject matter doesn't hurt. I don't find any problem with the pdf as is, it seemed to work simialarly, even better than Appleby's, for example.
harry_soletsky1
no problems downloading at all. Punchy colors but I wonder if this is subject better for B&W. With CN400 I've had quite good results with most labs. I used to do my own B&B and while not the same the chromogenics do surprisingly well to me. Allen Herbert
Defamation of character. Do you really think, I have so little wit or humour as these characters? Think again. If you have a problem with me, address it to me.

h._p.
"you'll need to install the latest version of Adobe's PDF Reader." I'm using a full copy of Acrobat 5. If that won't read it there has to be something odd about it.
