david_carson
Quick Hasselblad question: When you insert the darkslide, the handle part can be either more toward the lens, or more towards the film back. Does it matter which way you do it? Did a search on this, and found nothing. Note: I'm not talking about which way you *fold* the handle, rather, there's a little curled piece of metal that holds the handle, and this is the part that either is one way or the other. Obviously, I'm a Hassie newbie.
ed_skibeki
It doesn't matter, except that having the fold pointed toward the lens allows the film insert to be withdrawn with the dark slide in the back. Do the opposite & the act of withdrawing the insert will pull out the dark slide.
dan n.
it doesn't matter much... but if the handle folded toward the lens it may interfere with the rotation of the strap (if you use it). BTW when not in use, I keep the dark slide out of the back so it won't compress the light seal thus make it last a bit longer. Also if you don't know about this product yet... I have a darkslide keeper from Lindahl, very handy... (item 16-2005) http://www.bookendzdocks.com/lindahl/catalog.htm
nikola_kovanovic
It does matter. It is illustrated in the Hasselblad A-type Film Magazine manual. Little curled piece of metal that holds the the handle should be positioned toward the lens.
conrad_poulin
Nikola is correct. Folded pertrusion forward. This way you can remove the film insert and the darkslide will stay put.
q.g._de_bakker
Whether it matters or not is, as ernie explained, a matter of convenience only.

leo_cavanha
Nikola, it sounds strange to me since i have a late-70s darkslide wich has a curved portion in the middle of the handle that matches the opening handle if the curled part is pointing towards the back. If it is pointed toward the lens, it matches nothing... misterious to me!
hasselblad technician
Ernie is correct. It doesn't matter which side faces forward. However, if you insert the dark slide with the curl facing the front, it will allow you to remove the insert while the dark slide is in the magazine. David S.
