marshall
Down to one lens, I tend to take my 24-120. Good range, though for the highest quality images, I do have to come in a bit at the extremes (making it more like a 28-110, I guess. I don't have any primes other than 24 and 105, which I'm not sure I could live with alone...
wind.dk
As the 85 sometimes isn't quite wide enough, and even the f/1.4 requires more light than a 50/1.4, I'd want the 50/1.4. You can use the flash to beat the natives if they turn out to be less friendly than they look - or do the Rear Window trick. By the way, I hope you intend to be stranded with some film as well... vince
I've had the 24-120 and 24-85/2.8-4 and used each as my shipwreck lens, but I increasingly lust after a 50/1.8 because it's small and light. Then again, if you're shipwrecked, what do you care how much your lens weighs?
frankl
28-105D would be the lens i'd take along. I dont think the front element is big enough to signal ships or start fires with though :)
douglas_green1
I'd want the 2000mm f11 Mirror lens. If you are shipwrecked, you are most likely looking for your rescuer. And this lens is essentially a large telescope. Now for taking PICTURES, I would want my 105mm f2.5 AI
lukedavis
I also vote for the 55/2.8 Micro-Nikkor (AIS). It and the 105/2.5 (large rear optic) are arguably the two sharpest Nikkors. Both are sharp at every aperture.
ken_schroeder
When I first converted from screw mount to Nikon, I only had one lens for quite a while. It was a 50 f1.4. I had forgotten how useful the 50 can be. In hindsight, I would have been just as happy with a 1.8, 2, or micro 55.
