maurice_bryant
I would like to buy a Kiev 60 camera. I already have a Kiev 19 35mm camera and I would like to know if it would be worth it to get a Kiev 60 to Nikon Lens Adapter. If I fit the lens from the Kiev 60 with the adapter onto the Kiev 19, will the picture quality suffer?
andre_la_pierre
Hi Maurice,
I also own a Kiev-60 and 88-six, along with a couple of Zeiss lenses. The adapter should work fine, although it's possible that the automatic diafragm mechanism won't function - I have not tested that on my Nikon bodies. Picture quality probably won't suffer at all because the lens will have no problems covering the much smaller negative size. In fact, you will be utilizing the best part of the lenses: the center!
One tip though: If you buy a Kiev 60 (or whatever Kiev for that matter) buy it from a well-known and good dealer. If you do, you will find that the camera performs very well and if handled with care (like all 6 by 6 systems) will perform reliably. So, go for it! My '60 is serving me well for several years now, and so has my 88-six (hassy clone with pentacon bayonet). The Zeiss lenses are very good, especially for the money, but becoming quite rare these days.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Andre
