juan_luna
Dear colleagues, I have been devoloping 135 film during years and now I am beginning with the format middle. My question is, must remove the back paper from the film 120 before introducing them in the tank? Thanks and regards, Juan A.
alberto pastorelli
YES! ...of course !! Dear Juan, you have to remove (it's really easy) the paper in the total darkness.Be caution during the operation (and expecially at the end of the film on which can be attached with a glue) to be "smooth", if you pull the paper in a fast manner, the friction can produce static light.... very harmfull for the film. that's all regardsAlberto
mel_brown1
Yes. The film is taped to the paper at the beginning (frame 1) end. You can cut it with scissors or tear it off. As Alberto mentioned, do this slowly to minimize static sparks. The static will generate sparks that can fog the film. After separating the film from the paper, I insert the taped end into the clip of the reel, then feel both sides from the outside of the reel to make sure the film is centered left to right. With medium format film, it is more important to use gentle agitation to avoid uneven development.
jeff_drew4
- - Or choose 220, which does not have the backing, and offers more shots per roll etc.
milton_barrocas
Be very careful when you pull the taped end of the film from the backing as this may cause electrostatic discharge which may cause steaks on the film, happened to me twice; now I use scissors to cut the film off. Good luck...
