EOS RT - is RT mode working (CF 14)?

I've just bought an used EOS RT body - love the lack of vibration and

the responsiveness, but I can't seem to get RT mode (8ms) to work.

I've set CF 14 on and off, and can't hear or see any difference - I

would expect to hear and see the metering mirror move out of the way,

the camera doesn't stop down on half pressure of the shutter, and I

don't notice any difference in the shutter lag.

Can anyone with an EOS RT confirm if this one is working correctly or

not? I will return it to the shop if it's not functioning correctly.

Thanks,

Roger

Wondering can you still buy brand new RT these day?

your should then CF14 to OFF.

turn the power dial to the golden RT position instead of the normal A position.

To verify its in RT mode, point the lens to bright place, half press the button to pre-focus, you should heard a 'click' sound and see from your finder a much dimmer view resulted from the lens aperture blades pre-stopped down. Then RT should be in action, and once you press the rest of the button, the shutter will be fired.

CF14 is for in case if you want to delay the shutter firing back to normal professional camera's 40ms. I think this is decided for people who used to their New F-1, which has a shutter lag of 40ms.

I personally can't tell the difference between the 40ms and 8 ms. So, I seldom use the camera in RT mode for a brighter viewfinder.

Hope this help.

Thanks very much - no instruction book, and the RT setting on the on/off dial was completely hidden. The camera is working perfectly after all.

I have moved over to the EOS system from an FD setup with two F1n cameras, so the 40ms shutter lag suited me perfectly as soon as I started using it.

I am very tempted to build a system around two EOS RT bodies - does anyone else use an EOS RT as their only or main 35mm camera?
