joachim_hildebrand
Recently I bought a Mamiya 6 Outfit in really good shape. Everything works fine but I am wondering whether the sounds after pressing the shutter relase are normal: When pushing the button I can hear the leaf shutter and maybe 3/10 of a second later a second click which seems to come from the camera and not from the lens. When I push the button a second or third time afterwards the delay of the second click becomes shorter. Is there somthing wrong?
jason neymeyer
At what shutter speed? With my Mamiya 7 I can hear the two clicks at any shutter speed longer than 1/8 sec. The first click is the shutter opening, the second is the shutter closing.
john_hicks___
You should hear the shutter open and close, very closely followed by a third click which is the cocking mechanism in the body lensmount resetting. If it fails to reset the camera can't be wound etc. Ideally the time lag between the shutter closing and the mechanism resetting should be _very_ short to practically indistinguishable. If it's significantly delayed they mechanism is getting sticky and will need to be serviced when it takes too long to reset or fails. One of mine needed this service, as have a couple of friends' cameras. It's not that they're particularly prone to this failure, it's that any system has failure modes and this is one for the M6. Contact your Mamiya importer/service center for info.
joachim_hildebrand
John thank You for Your diagnosis. Is there any risk (except the risk of a failure during a shoot) if I am not sending the camera right now to a Mamiya service center?
