pierre_bize
I do take a lot of picture with flash, especially in daylight, and like my background to be slightly underexposed. The problem is I'm not sure if the exposure compensation influences the flash metering or not. For example if I want the background to be -1 stop and the flash exposure to be -1/3 should I set the flash exposure correction on -1/3 or on + 2/3... Hope someone gets my point (I knomw my question sound kind of confused)Thanks for help. Pierre.
primoz
When you are in Av, Tv or Manual mode your camera will be mettering only ambient light. So when you want background (and in this case also foreground) to be -1 stop you set exposure compensation to -1 and then flash to -1/3. That's pretty much it. For P mode I'm not really sure what it will do.
mark u
The best thing to do is to read N K Guy's excellent treatise on EOS flash at http://photonotes.org/articles/eos-flash/ This explains the different situations you may encounter, which vary according to the body you have.
