Z-1p flash repair, service/repair manual?

My most recent purchase that I mentioned in my other thread on first

autofocus lenses is a Z-1p and as far as I can tell so far (havn't

gotten the test rolls back) everything is working great except the flash.

 

It warns me to use it when there isn't enough light for the settings,

but when I pop it up it doesn't charge, once or twice I have gotten

the high pitched sound of it charging but it never did charge.

 

So something is wrong with that system, the AF assist light doesn't

come on either, but I'm not sure under what circumstances it should

light up.

 

So does anyone have any ideas? Or know where to get a service

manual for it?

Ok I'm having more problems with this sucker.

 

Its eating batteries like no tommorow.

 

I get about 4 rolls per battery at about 18 bucks a pop.

 

Its working great besides that and the flash not working.

 

I'm wondering if its something to do with the flash, maybe its constantly charging whenever its on but not holding the charge or something? I'm wondering if its even using lots of juice when its off. So latly I just put in the battery upside down so its not connected but still handy. I always turn the camera off between sets of shots.

 

Surly it shouldn't be using them this quickly, the manual says around 80 rolls with no flash use.

 

Any ideas?

 

I might send it into Pentax Canada for a CLA and repairs to the flash but I want to wait till winter sets in and I'm using it as much.
